Position description
The Music Department at Â鶹´«Ã½ invites applications for the position of Director of the Â鶹´«Ã½ Jazz Ensemble (MUSC 1649-4649). This is a stipendiary (part-time) appointment. Preference will be given to applicants with degrees and/or diplomas in jazz performance or conducting and an established record of successful jazz direction at the university and professional levels. Responsibilities include directing one weekly rehearsal of 2.5 hours, evaluating student participation, and preparing up to two public concerts each term.
The Â鶹´«Ã½ Jazz Ensemble is an ensemble of open instrumentation of approximately 15 members. The ensemble meets in both Fall and Winter terms, from September 2025 to April 2026. Rehearsals will be held on the campus of Â鶹´«Ã½, normally on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 8:30 pm.
